ABOUTUNIVERSITY The Aryabhatta Knowledge University Act of 2008 calls for the foundation of a university in Patna to undertake research and promote the association of institutes in both traditional and emerging fields of education and training. The Government of Bihar founded Aryabhatta Knowledge University (AKU) in Patna to create and administer educational infrastructure linked to technical, medical, management, and associated professional education in the state. The university's goal is to build a professional education infrastructure that meets national standards via advanced courses, facilities, and excellent teachers. Bihar suffers from a lack of infrastructure, both in terms of the number of institutions and the quality of education. As a consequence, Bihar has become a key hub for students travelling to other states to further their studies and develop a career for future development.
Founded in 2010, Aryabhatta Knowledge University, is an Open University affiliated with the University Grants Commission. Besides, the All India Council for Technical Education has authorised the university. The university's primary mission is to provide technical education. It also provides medical and managerial training. The institution is divided into four centres: the Centre for Geographical Studies, the Centre for River Studies, the Patliputra School of Economics, as well as the Centre for Journalism and Mass Communication. In addition, there are around 114 joint institutes with the university. COURSES OFFERED Admission to the B.Techprogramme is based on the candidate's marks in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from a recognised board. However, the final selection is based on the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination. To enrol in MBBS/BDS/BAMS a student must have a Bachelor's degree with at least 55% in relevant subjects. However, the final selection is based on the National Entrance Test (NEET). For getting admission in MTech an applicant must have a B.Tech degree from a recognised University in a relevant area. However, the final decision is on the basis of the university's entrance exam.
COURSES OFFERED Entrance to the B.Ed the programme will be based on the candidate's performance in the B.Ed Joint Entrance Exam. On the other hand, applicants for the M.Ed. the programme must have completed their graduation. However, candidates must also take an entrance test organised by the university. Admission to medical programmes such as MD/MS and M.Ch is dependent on the applicant's performance in the NEET PG test. Enrollment to M.Sc. and MBA is dependent on the students' performance in their prior qualifying test. However, an applicant for the MBA programme must first take the University's Entrance Exam, which is followed by a Personal Interview and Group Discussion stage.
COURSES OFFERED The university offers PhD in various specialisations such as Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy, General Surgery, etc. Admission to these programmes is on the basis of a postgraduate degree in relevant fields. Eligible students must take the Pre-PhD Registration Test. However, the final selection of students is dependent upon past academic achievements, a written test followed by an interview. Lastly, the university also offers diplomas in various specializations such as Radiotherapy, Orthopedics, Nutrition, Microbiology, etc.
INFRASTRUCTURE The university campus has a hostel to meet the accommodation demands of students. Besides, the hostel provides basic amenities such as AC, a refrigerator, wi-fi, laundry, and so on.
