  5. Learner Profile At the heart of the IB Programme Continuum is the Learner Profile. The IB programme aims to help students develop as lifelong learners in the context of the Learner Profile. Ada Merritt K-8 Center

Portfolios Students: • Collect samples of their work for each Area of Interaction • Write a reflection form for each entry • Collected work samples and reflections can be added to the portfolios during homeroom • You may use a picture of large projects • Accumulate work samples from 6th – 8th grades A complete Portfolio is a requirement to qualify for the Ada Merritt International Baccalaureate Certificate in eighth grade. IB MYP Requirements • Maintain grades of 2.5 or higher in all subjects and in conduct • Maintain effort satisfactory grades • Follow the schools attendance, punctuality, uniform and behavior guidelines • Complete home learning assignments regularly and use the student agenda • Complete the required Community and Service hours: • 10 hours in 6th and 7th grade • 20 hours in 8th grade • Maintain a portfolio • Complete the 8th grade Culminating Project Ada Merritt K-8 Center

Eighth Grade Requirements • To receive an Eighth Grade Certificate of Promotion students must pass all Middle School core classes • To receive an Ada Merritt K-8 Center International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) Certificate and Pin students must meet the following criteria: • a GPA of 2.5 or higher in all Academic Courses and in conduct • satisfactory effort grades • a minimum of 40 hours of Community and Service: 10 in grades 6 and 7, 20 in grade 8. All Service Record forms must be submitted before May 16, 2014 • a satisfactory eighth grade culminating project • a complete MYP portfolio.
