  1. HOW TO PAINT WOODEN FURNITURE

  2. TOOLS REQUIRED Page 06 • Paints: • Wood primer • Top coats • Essentials: • Brush • Masking tape • Paint tray • Sander / Sand paper • Roller • Sponge • Vacuum cleaner • Additional items: • Cloth • Degreaser • Paint stirrer • Screwdriver • Spray bottle

  3. STEP 1 Page 06 If the furniture has previously been painted or varnished, use medium grit sandpaper to gently sand it to create a smooth, absorbent surface. After that, give it a quick wipe down with a moist towel and let the furniture dry. You can go directly to step 4 if your furniture is not covered.

  4. STEP 2 Page 06 • After using degreaser to clean the furniture, let it air dry. • After giving it another sand with fine-grain sandpaper, use a dry cloth to wash off any remaining dust, then sanitise it once more and let it air dry.

  5. STEP 3 Page 06 Using a small brush for the corners and a small roller for the larger surfaces, apply a coat of wood priming. Before applying your primer, remember to give it a good stir!

  6. STEP 4 Page 06 To prevent runs and sags in the top colour, evenly apply two coats of satin finish paint. Sand down lightly between layers for a professional finish, and check the paint tin for drying periods in between coats.
