  1. Strabismus or squint is the failure of one or both eyes to maintain proper alignment, and work together as a team. In this condition, one eye looks directly at the object you are viewing, while the other eye looks elsewhere – inward, outward, upward, or downward. This condition may be constant or irregular. Whatever it may be, it needs to be cured, because the brain in this condition ignores the visual input from the misaligned eye, which typically leads to a condition known as “lazy eye”, which is one of the most common causes of partial or even total blindness in the eye(s)! So, when you feel like you are having squint, you must immediately rush to the best squint specialist in Mumbai, to have your eyes checked and treated at the earliest. But, how would you know that you have squint? This blog will let you know everything about the symptoms, diagnosis, causes, and treatment of squint. Symptoms of squint The most common and identifiable symptom of squint is the misalignment of the eyes, where both the eyes look in different directions. Other symptoms include double vision, blurred images, overlapped images, eye fatigue, reading difficulty, pulling sensation around the eyes, and loss of depth perception. Diagnosis of squint

  2. A screening test for squint is conducted that evaluates the eye alignment based on the location of reflections of light shined at the eyes. When the misalignment is obvious and significant, the squint is known as a large-angle squint, referring to the angle of deviation between the light of sight of the straight eye, and that of the misaligned eye. Less obvious deviations are called small-angle squint. Large-angle squint does not cause eye strain or headache because there is no attempt by the brain to straighten the eyes. Small-angle squint, on the other hand, is more likely to cause eye strain, headache, fatigue, and jittery vision. Causes of squint Genetics plays a significant role in causing squint. If one or both parents have squint, the child may also adopt it. Other than that, each eye has six muscles that control the eye position and movement. For normal vision, the position, control, and functioning of these muscles must be coordinated perfectly. Squint occurs when there are neurological problems that interfere with the control and function of these muscles. Treatment of squint Squint cannot be treated with any kinds of medications, eye drops, injections, or eye glasses. There is only one solution to squint, and that is surgery. Squint surgery involves tightening or moving one or more of the outside eye muscles to move the eye to change its position. Stitches are then used to attach the muscles in their new positions. While it may sound dreadful, it is a very common procedure, which is generally a one-day procedure only that doesn’t require you to stay in the hospital at all. You will be in and out of the hospital on the same day. You can get in touch with Arohi Eye Hospital, the best squint specialist in Mumbai, for the most successful squint surgery in the country.
