  4. Anterior – in front of, front Posterior – After, behind, toward back

  5. Distal – away, farthest from the reference point Proximal – Near, Closest to reference point

  7. Lateral – away from midline Medial – toward the midline

  8. Cranial – Toward the head Caudal – Toward tailbone
