Project Context • The population of Essex is projected to expand by over 15% in 20 years. • Essex County Council is developing a Green Infrastructure Strategy to: • Identify current GI assets, functions & benefits • Assess the implications of proposed new developments • Highlight needs & opportunities to enhance GI provision

Conclusions & Next Steps • The approach makes it possible to examine GIS provision at a high level of spatial detail and in terms of the supported functions and benefits. • Next steps are to: • Assess associations with socio-economic variables • Complete mapping of potential development sites • Undertake further spatial analysis to identify strategic needs & opportunities to enhance GI provision
