Pravaig Defy e-SUV- 5 Interesting Bits • Developed over a period of 10 years • Longest EV in the segment, measuring almost 5- metres in length • Deliveries to start from late 2023 Pravaig, the Bengaluru-based EV company, has just launched its first product for the Indian market. Initially conceptualized in 2011, the company has showcased two pre-production EVs, the Defy and the Veer. The company was founded back in 2011 as makers of specialist off-road buggies. The brand showcased its first concept, the Extinction in 2020. But here is everything you need to know about the latest electric SUV in India. Pravaig Defy: Exterior Design The Defy gets sharp cuts and sculpts, giving the car a very angular design that the brand calls “brutal sophistication”. The front-end features LED light bar that runs the width of the car along with chunky bumper and plastic cover in-place of the grille. While there are no air vents, the company has made vertical slits in the bumper returning drag co-efficient of 0.33.

  2. The contrasting black top half and the sloping roofline gives the Defy a sporty SUV look, while the rear with its LED light bar and a sculpted boot lid complete the overall look of the car. In the first glance, one can easily spot the Range Rover Velar inspiration in this model. A unique feature on the new model will be the Roll-Royce like suicide door that adds to the sophistication of the SUV. In total the Defy will be available with 9 exterior colours and 5 interior trim finishes.

  3. The 18-inch wheels of the electric SUV can be optioned with “aero covers” which would add up to 10 kilometres of additional range. Once production starts, the electric SUV will come packed with features. There will be a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display with 5G sim-card allowing on-board gaming and the option to add more games through OTA updates. The driver gets a 10-inch digital-screen for the instrument console while audio is handled by French specialists Devialet. The Defy will be offered with 5-seats as standard but can also be opted as a 4-seater with captain seats for the second row. Customers will be able to opt for rear seat entertainment kit that consists of 15.6-inch screens and a wireless charger. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, electronically adjustable seats and adaptive LED headlights. In terms of safety, the e-SUV will come equipped with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC and TPMS. In addition to the standard equipment, the car will also get a bespoke ADAS system, developed completely in-house by the engineers at Pravaig. Pravaig Defy: Powertrain

  4. Pravaig says the Defy is built on a newly developed skateboard platform. This design allows the battery to be place centrally within the SUV, lowering the centre of gravity and freeing up space for luggage and passengers. The Defy gets a 90.9 kWh battery pack that powers the two electric motors, one on each axle for an AWD system. Together, they generate 407 bhp and 620 Nm of peak power and torque. Claimed range for the EV is just over 500 kilometres on a full charge. Fast charging options include 0-80 percent in just half an hour using a 150 kWh DC charger. Pravaig also offers the option of a 7.2 kWh home charger which will offer 300 kilometres range with 8 hours of charge. Pravaig Defy: Sales and Service According to Pravaig’s current business model, 85 percent of the sales will be done through the company’s official site, with the rest 15 percent taken car by Pravaig’s authorised partners.   5. The Defy is priced at Rs 39.5 lakh (ex-showroom) and delivers will start in Q2/Q3 2023. Currently bookings are open for the e-SUV at a token amount of Rs 51,000 and the company has received 800 pre-orders.
