  2. When you have to manage the performance of your team, you will need a wide range of skills.  These may be interpersonal and the process as well.  Here are the most important ones that will be needed: • Setting the Goals • Coaching • Mentoring • Delegation • Empowerment • Feedback

  3. Setting the Goals In the absence of goals, you will not be able to manage performance as nobody has the yardstick with which you can measure the achievements. If there is nothing to measure, there is nothing to manage as well. Managing performance training may be needed to gain these skills and more.

  4. Coaching It is an essential part of managing the performance so the individuals can learn how things could have been achieved more efficiently. If you want to achieve the performance, you should coach them by asking a series of questions as under: How can you get better results? Which approach would be more effective? In this way, your team can evaluate your performance and consider other approaches for the next time.

  5. Mentoring In the role of the ‘mentor,’ you might have produced the same results earlier as well, and now you are sharing the personal experience to meet the same objectives. In many situations, it has found to be successful as the team gets the right way to achieve the goals.

  6. Delegation It is another essential skill which you may need to improve the performance of your team. Even if the delegated work has not been carried out perfectly, the right feedback and coaching can be beneficial to make things better.

  7. Empowerment When you empower people in your team, it can drive the performance of the individual to a new level. However, there should be an appropriate level of coaching and feedback to make sure that the team member feels empowered.
