  9. PRE-GAME Have correct time (USNO 202-762-1401) (www.time.gov) Instruct game clock and 25 sec clock operator

  11. PRE-GAME(on field) Instruct ball boys Ensure visitors are on time

  13. COIN TOSS Visitor’s sideline, get captains to the R Ball ready from the visitors in the event they will kick off Cpts go to center of field with R, you take position at the numbers

  14. COIN TOSS Meet other officials in the center of field after toss and break out

  15. GENERAL GAME DUTIES Count defensive team (kicking team on KOs) Check clock status Keep play clock or monitor the one on field Help L and H relay ball

  16. BALL HANDLING – • IDEAL: Game balls from ea team on ea sideline • R & B relay in to U (Avoid long tosses) • Think ahead on C.O.P. (NEW BALL) • DON’T SACRIFICE DEADBALL OFFICIATING FOR THE BALL

  17. BALL HANDLING – UIL Policy • 12 year old ball boys • 1 on ea sideline • 3 balls min

  18. FREE KICKS Position w/kicker and instruct Count Team A (no go with < or > 11) Move to press box side, Team A restr. line, clear sideline & signal R (1 hand in air) Observe Team A restr line (What is offside???)

  21. FREE KICKS • WATCH FOR: • 4 ON EA SIDE OF BALL WHEN KICKED (R & B) • ILLEGAL BLOCKING BY TEAM A • KICKS OUT OF BOUNDS IN YOUR AREA (FLAG IF WARRANTED) • TEAM A PLAYERS GOING OOB OR NOT IMMED RET IF BLOCKED OUT

  22. FREE KICKS Once ball is kicked, observe for possible illegal touch by Team A (Before ball goes 10 yards or before it is touched by Team B) Bag any such spots, no flag

  23. FREE KICKS Once ball is caught/recovered: Blockers in front (BBW, IBW, Holds) Maintain cushion and lead runner to GL Forward progress from @ 3 (May have to come back to help L on spot) If handoff/backward pass, bag (why?)

  30. SCRIMMAGE PLAYS Basic position is 20- 25 yards deep, but always behind deepest DB Favor the open side of the field but try to stay between the uprights
