  1. Breast Lift – How to Prepare, its Benefits, and Risks

  2. A breast lift commonly known as Mastopexy is a medical treatment that alters the shape of the breast of a woman. • This surgical procedure involves the removal of the unwanted and excess skin of the breast. • Mastopexy is especially known for reshaping the breast tissues that further raise the breast of a woman and make it firm.

  3. Most of the woman today opt for their breast lift surgery to get rid of wilting breasts. • The procedure not only provides your breast with an appropriate shape but the same may assist you by boosting up your confidence and image. • However, this treatment has not proven effective enough in modifying the size of your breast completely.

  4. Why and when to opt for a breast lift? • Once a woman gets older, the size and shape of her breast changes and lose elasticity and stiffness. Some of the major causes of breast changes include:

  5. 1.    Pregnancy – • The ligaments supporting the breast portion of a pregnant woman get enlarged since during these time woman’s breast get heavier and fuller. • This enlargement is the major reason that in future results in breast sagging – irrespective of whether you breastfeed your child or not.

  6. 2.    Weight fluctuations – • Another factor that leads to breast sagging is the weight fluctuations. For instance, gaining weight make your breast skin to stretch and thereby lose firmness. • In any of the above-mentioned conditions, your breast might appear heavier and the nipple and darker area over your breast would appear falling downwards. You can undergo the breast lift surgery if you notice:

  7. Both of your breasts sag. • One of your breasts appears pointing downwards whereas another one is appropriately positioned. • Your nipples point downwards. • Your nipple, as well as areolae (the darker skin surrounding nipples), falls underneath the breast crease.

  8. Usually, this surgical treatment should be preferred only if you don't have any future pregnancy plans. • This is because, though it is possible for a woman who has undergone a breast lift treatment to breastfeed a baby, your breast might not be able to produce adequate milk.

  9. Risks associated with breast lift • Some of the major risks involved in a breast lift include:

  10. 1.    Scars – Though scars are often said to be permanent, they will get erased within two or three months if properly healed. On the other hand, improper care of scars can make them appear thick and wide with time. • 2.    Alteration in breast sensation –Whilst you may experience sensation within a few days of surgery, some woman might experience absolute loss of sensation. However, your erotic sensation would remain unaffected.

  11. 3.    Partial or complete loss of areolae –In some cases, the blood supply towards areolae get cut off during the breast lift surgery which can possibly lead to the partial or absolute loss of areolae.
