    Lifelong Individualized Fitness Education

    Slide 2:What is L.I.F.E.?

    L.I.F.E. is the required course for physical education. It provides a blueprint for a lifetime of healthy living. Through this course, students apply the knowledge of the components of fitness in assessing their own fitness levels. By the end of the course, students know how to become fit for life!

    Slide 3:L.I.F.E. is NOT a traditional physical education class composed only of sport units.

    Using a variety of health-enhancing physical activities to reinforce and apply fitness components and principles.

    Slide 6: 1. Demonstrate movement combinations from a variety of physical activities that enhance cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and body composition. Examples: running, weight training, circuit training, aerobics

    Slide 24:Why should we teach L.I.F.E.?

    The Alabama Course of Study is mandated by law. The L.I.F.E. course can be part of the solution to the health and wellness problems of young people in Alabama.

    Slide 25:How should we teach L.I.F.E.?

    You can design your own LIFE Program using the content standards to guide you. You can choose to follow plans designed by two other physical educators which were implemented in schools across Alabama. You can choose to follow the Fitness for Life Curriculum by Chuck Corbin published by Human Kinetics.

    Slide 26:LIFE IS GOOD! You just have to design it AND teach it, for it to be GOOD!
