  1. Today in Science • You Will Need: • Pencil, Colored Pencils, Periodic Table (textbook) • Counting Atoms Picked Up Yesterday – Due anytime today • Counting Total Atoms in Compounds – Bookshelf – 2 pages 3 sides • Log #4 – Update • STAR Cumulative Quiz on Cards 1-100 on Friday. We are changing seats!

  2. Cooperative Groups • MANAGER– Organizing, Understanding, Turning in Work • MATERIALS MANAGER– Collecting, Keeping supplies in good condition, Returning, Organize Table Box • TIMER/DESIGNER– Track and Communicate Time, In charge of design, sketching and quality of product • ORAL PRESENTER– Communicator, Asks Questions for the group, Presents finding

  3. Today in Science • You Will Need: • Pencil, Colored Pencils, Periodic Table (textbook) • Counting Atoms Picked Up Yesterday – Due anytime today • Counting Total Atoms in Compounds – Bookshelf – 2 pages 3 sides • Log #4 – Update • STAR Cumulative Quiz on Cards 1-100 on Friday.

  4. Test #3 • Retakes for 91/130 or lower + any “C” papers if you talk to me about it. • Retakes offered until Monday, April 18th • Get Test #3 Signed and Correct 5 errors – Tell why you missed: • #1, 20,21,22,32

  5. Let’s Build Some Compounds • You will need: Yellow, Red, Green and • Color molecules according to key • Yellow = Hydrogen • Red = Oxygen • Green = Chlorine • Black = Carbon BLACK

  6. Let’s Build Some Compounds • Build a model of Compound Listed Below • Managers = CCl4 • Materials Managers= C2H4 • Oral Presenters = CH3OH • Timer/Designer = HCHO

  7. Table Challenges for Extra Credit • Speed and Accuracy will win! • Use your classroom as a resource. • First table to hold up required molecules wins.

  8. Table Challenges for Extra Credit • Build 4 water molecules • Build 2 diatomic Oxygen molecules • Build two CO2 molecules • Build 2 Hydrochloric acid molecule ( HCl) • Build 2 Methane molecules (CH4)

  9. Clean Up • Materials Managers – Check your box! • 2 blue • 4 red • 2 orange • 6 black • 4 green • 15 yellow • 2 purple

  10. Coefficients • Yesterday we counted the total atoms needed to build ONE compound model. • Coefficients (Big Number in front of the compound formula), tell HOW MANY MODELS • 5 ZnSO4 Zn = Zinc = 1 S = Sulfur = 1 O = Oxygen = 4 X5 X5 x5 30 atoms

  11. Counting Total Atoms • Countingthe Atoms of one moleculeand then multiplyingthat by how many moleculesyou need to build. • Example: • #2: 4 HNO3 • H = 1 • N = 1 • O = 3 20 atoms X 4 = 5 atoms

  12. Priority List • Counting Atoms – Due today • Complete Counting Total Atoms in Compounds – Due tomorrow. • Signed Test #3 + 5 Corrections – Due on Thursday #1, 20,21,22,32 • Study for STAR Cumulative Quizon Cards 1-100 for Friday

  13. Homework • Counting Atoms – Due today • Complete Counting Total Atoms in Compounds – Due tomorrow. • Signed Test #3 + Corrections Due on Thursday • Study for STAR Cumulative Quiz on Cards 1-100 for Friday
