It requires the development of good hand-eye co-ordination skills, procedural proficiency and the ability to make command decisions. Without a Command Instrument Rating a pilot must operate in visual meteorological conditions (VMC) at all times. Successful completion of this rating will enable you to operate in nearly all weather conditions. As a charter or airline pilot your employment opportunities are much higher if you are able to fly in all types of weather. Once you have attained it you will be a pilot with abilities shared by only a few at the very top of aviation tree. Course Your training commences in the increasingly popular AGMK6 Aeroguidance simulator. This trainer is set up in its single engine mode.The system is fully computerised with all types of navaids, including DME and GPS, and can simulate all sorts of procedures including Air Traffic Control, weather, and the most important emergency procedures that cannot be practiced in real flight. The trainer is also used for recency requirements. Your training will consist of 15 Hours in the simulator and the remaining hours in the aircraft. This cuts down the cost of the IFR Rating. It will be necessary to undertake some “familiarisation flying” to get used to flying in the new environment and prepare for the flight review. We will need a letter from the school confirming this) 2. is receiving secondary education in an Australian or New Zealand educational institution and the language of instruction is English; 3. worked in Australia or New Zealand for at least 3 of the 5 years immediately before applying for the student pilot licence; 4. worked in a specified country for at least 3 of the 5 years immediately before applying for the student pilot licence; 5. successfully completed one of the following English language proficiency tests:  The General or Academic Training Module of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with an overall grade of 5.5 on condition that no single test area has a score of less than 5.0.  Test of English for International Communication-Secure Program (TOEIC-Secure Program/Public Testing Centre) with the following minimum test scores: listening – 350,reading – 300, speaking – 160 writing – 140.  Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-based test (TOEFL iBT) with a test score of 71.  Test of English as a Foreign Language computer-based test (TOEFL CBT) with a test score of 197.  Test of English as a Foreign Language paper-based test (TOEFL PB) with a test score of 530. 6.
