Speak to your GP In many situations it will be a person’s general practitioner who provides the referral for the radiological scan in the first place which could include an x-ray, CT scan, ultrasound or MRI. The first step should therefore be to discuss the results with your GP. The general practitioner may be able to recommend what should be done next but in some situations, where an injured person requires further treatment it is likely you will be referred to a hospital or to a specialist. Seeing a specialist or going to a Hospital Generally if there is a finding on a radiological scan an injured person will be referred to a specialist such as an Orthopaedic Surgeon or a Neurologist so evaluate the symptoms further. Before you meet with the specialist it is a good idea to write down a list of your symptoms and how they affect you on a day to day basis so that the specialist can fully understand the restriction on function which is often the main thing which is evaluated.
