2. Scholarships in the UK. UK Universities are mainly government funded, with limited funds available for grants to students. In order to avail a scholarship, a student must have excellent grades and should meet the requirements specified in the scholarship. Many UK Universities have scholarships of upto £5000 specified for students from India, although these are mainly based on merit.

3. Bursary, Grant or Scholarship? A Bursary is typically given by a University based on a students low financial capacity. It assists them to focus on their studies and avoid distractions such as seeking part time or full time work in order to support their living expenses. A Grant is often given for special academic /extra-curricula endeavours such as sports or research, they are generally tied to the cost of the activity and not generally awarded direct to the student. A Scholarship is generally a part or full tuition fee reduction awarded to the student on the basis of merit. It is often used by Universities to influence high achieving students away from their competition and act an incentive to join their institution.

4. Basis of Scholarship You may be offered a scholarship based on the following criteria: - Academic result in last qualification held - IELTS score of at least 8 bands overall. - First come – first serve basis - Early Fee deposit - Applying and freezing a seat in a course upto 1 year in advance.

The Commonwealth scholarship and fellowship plan allows meritorious students residing within commonwealth countries to pursue studies within the commonwealth. The CSFP is one of the largest and most prestigious scholarships schemes for international study in the world. Since it was established in 1959, 27,000 individuals have benefited. It covers travel, living allowances and all compulsory tuition fees.

University of Birmingham Scholarships for University of Birmingham Scholarships for International International Students Students • The University of Birmingham is offering 18 individual scholarships for international candidates commencing a one year Masters programme. The scholarships are worth £10,000 towards the cost of tuition fees for a one year masters course. These awards are for tuition fees only and cannot be used for maintenance/living costs.

University of Nottingham at Developing University of Nottingham at Developing Solutions Scholarships Solutions Scholarships • The Developing Solutions Scholarships are designed for international students from Africa, India or one of the developing countries of the Commonwealth who want to study a Master’s Degree at the University of Nottingham and make a difference to the development of their home country. Each year, 105 scholarships are awarded– 30 scholarships will cover the full tuition fee while 75 will cover 50% of the tuition fee.

University of Oxford Rhodes Scholarships University of Oxford Rhodes Scholarships • Established in the will of Cecil Rhodes in 1902, the Rhodes is the oldest and perhaps the most prestigious international scholarship program in the world. The Rhodes Scholarships are postgraduate awards that support exceptional international students from selected countries at the University of Oxford. A Rhodes scholarship covers all university fees, personal stipend, health insurance, and airfare to and from the student’s home country. A class of 83 Scholars is selected each year.
