What is ISO? • An NGO established in 1947 • a federation of 140 national standards bodies and 500 international/regional liaison members • comprised of 2,850 technical committees, subcommittees and working groups • over 13,000 international standards published to date - not including technical reports and guides • 30,000 experts a year participate in ISO meetings • 15 ISO meetings take place somewhere in the world each day! • ISO standards are consensus based

ISO WG5 on Climate Change - Structure TC 207 - Environmental Management • Working Group 5 on Climate Change • Established in 2002. • Malaysia-Canada leadership. • Developing new International Standard for quantifying, reporting and verifying entity- and project level GHG emissions / removals.   10. Will ISO WG5 Standards be Compatible with the GHG Protocol? • Yes. WG5 reaffirmed at its 3rd meeting that “the Standard’s entity and project Parts should be compatible with the WBCSD/WRI GHG Protocol documents”.
