Number Resource • Background • 7-digit numbering structure can provide 10 million numbers • Todate approximately 1.4 millions numbers left for assignment • IDD (e.g 001) • Short Access • Code (e.g. 1711) • Mobile / Emergency • services ( e.g. 995) • level ‘6’ reserved for 8-digit Plan 6 million numbers 10 million numbers © IDA Singapore 2001 www.ida.gov.sg 4

Number Resource • Background • IDA projected initially that number resource would be depleted in 2005 • Due to increased numbering demand as a result of the full liberalisation of telecommunication market after Apr 2000, the 8-digit Numbering Plan implementation was brought forward from 2004 to 1 Mar 2002 © IDA Singapore 2001 www.ida.gov.sg 5

  27. Work Activities • 3 working groups were identified to oversee the implementation of 8-digit Numbering Plan • Network Implementation Group which handles the technical aspects of the implementation (e.g. network reconditioning and preparation) © IDA Singapore 2001 www.ida.gov.sg 27
