  1. DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE WAVE PEAK OF THE WAVE The highest point of a wave which often breaks first. Spotting the peak helps you to predict how a wave will break. LIP OF THE WAVE This part of the wave holds most of the wave’s strength. This is the topmost part of the wave that goes up. SHOULDER OF THE WAVE It is also known as the face of the wave. This is the part where the surfers ride, as it is yet to break. CURL OF THE WAVE It is concave, and often very steep. It is not meant for beginners as it needs a lot of practice to ride this part of the wave. TUBE OF THE WAVE When the wave breaks and forms cylindrical shape, it is called the tube or a barrel. This is the place where pro surfers try their ultimate surfing manoeuvres. IMPACT ZONE OF THE WAVE The spot where the lip crashes is called the impact zone. This is where the wave has its all power, so one must avoid getting caught in this zone even if paddling out. WHITE WATER OF THE WAVE After the wave breaks and reaches the land, it is known as whitewater or foam. SOURCE: WWW.HTSRESORT.COM
