(0.3 tonnes • per person) • Over the past decade, cement markets • have grown exceptionally well, till 2007 • when construction softened. For China • alone, has grown at 10.5 % CAGR (from • 500 mt in 1998 to 1390 mt in 2008). • Though the growth rate is tapering off • from 13.3% to 5.3 % in the last two years. • Rest of the world consumption rate has • grown at an CAGR of 4% in the past • decade. Again just 1.7% growth in 2008. • Now, China alone consumes close to 50 % • of global cement production though the • future growth may be restrained going by • historical trend.
