  4. THE WEB Vs THE INTERNET Many people think the WWW is the same as the internet. This is false! The internet refers to the physical side of the global network - a giant mass of cables and computers The web is just one software application that utilises the internet

HYPERTEXT AND HYPERMEDIA HyperText Markup Language (HTML) is the language used to create web documents HyperText is basically the same as regular text Contains links within text to other documents Hypermedia is hypertext with a difference Contains links to text and other media Hypermedia simply combines hypertext and multimedia

  12. SURFING THE WEB Hypertext links called HYPERLINKS, can create a complex virtual web of connections If you were to go to a web page and follow all the links you could find your self on a free associative tour of information known as “SURFING THE WEB”
