COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING GREATER NOIDA DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING NEWSLETTER MARCH-MAY 2020 Essay writing competition The NSS Club of IIMT college of Engineering organized an Essay writing competition on Corona Virus on 17-Feb- 2020. The students of IIMT college of Engineering participated in this competition and seventy-one students of various branches of Engineering were appeared in the competition. This competition was organized by the NSS club coordinator Mr. Satyaveer Singh. The objective of this competition was to provide an awareness regarding Covid-19 virus. In this competition, Mr. Aryan Kumar got first prize, Ms. Surbhi Garg got second prize. Slum area food drive event The NSS Club of IIMT college of Engineering organized a Food drive event in slum area region of Greater Noida on 18/02/2020. The students of IIMT college of Engineering participated in this event. Students collected residual food items from the canteen of IIMT College of Engineering and these food items are distributed among the children in that slum area. The objective of this event is to guide the students about social values of the societies. NSS students’ volunteers of IIMT Group of college have done a great job to serve food to the poor children. This event was organized by the NSS club. International Conference On 27th March 2020, Department of Civil Engineering organized International Conference on New Horizons in Science, Engineering and Management and Humanities with the collaboration of conference World. Due to Corona virus pandemic situation, this conference was conducted through video conferencing. DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING

  2. Page 2 webinar on Revit Architecture A workshop on Revit Architecture was successfully conducted by the department of civil engineering on 21 April 2020. Mohd. Sameer was the keynote speaker of the workshop. This workshop was greatly beneficial for the students of B. Tech (CE) 2nd year. Mrs. Tabassum Abbasi (HOD civil) did welcome of all the participant in the workshop session. Vote of thanks was given by Mr. Satyaveer singh to Industrial steel & structures webinar On Thursday 23 April 2020, a webinar on Industrial steel structures was successfully organized by Departments of Civil and Mechanical Engineering of IIMT College of Engineering, Greater Noida under ISTE. Mr. Rahul Sinha and Mr. Ajay Gopal Mishra were the two expert who were given a lecture on “Industrial steel structures”. More than 85 students and faculty members were participated in this webinar from all over India region, especially from Delhi NCR and west Bengal. Mr. Rahul Sinha is Asst. vice president of Apex Building Limited, Noida while Mr. Ajay Gopal Mishra is Head, Design & Engineering in Apex Building Limited, Noida. Director Engineering, Dr. Sanjay Pachauri did welcome the two speakers and all faculty members who were attending the webinar under ISTE. Mr. Saswat Kumar Das was the organizer of this webinar. Finally, in the last when webinar session was over, vote of thanks to the experts was given by Dr. Sanjay Pachauri. Mohd. Sameer for conducting a nice workshop session.

Page 3 Guest Lecture on hydraulic turbine On Friday 24 April 2020, a guest lecture on “Hydraulic machines” was successfully organized by Departments of Civil, IIMT College of Engineering, Greater Noida under IEI. Guest lecture was taken by Mr. Etkaf Hasan Khan who has completed his M. Tech from Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi. He has a wide experience in teaching and research. Webinar on internship On Tuesday 19 May 2020, a webinar on “Internship with Here Maps - B. Tech Civil Engineering” was successfully conducted by Department of civil engineering for CE2, CE3, and CE4 students through https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/528258181. objective of this webinar is to provide recent updates on civil engineering Maps. This webinar is taken by R. Dharma. Mrs. Tabassum Abbasi (HOD Civil Deptt.) did welcome of the speaker in this webinar. Page 4 Covid-19 Best slogan competition event On Friday 22 May 2020, Covid-19 Best slogan event was successfully organized by the department of civil engineering for the students of CE2, CE3, and CE4. In this event 130 slogans were received on Covid-19 and out of which three slogans were selected in best category by our Judge, Mr. Satish Kumar. Mr. Satish Kumar was ex. Chief Engineer in Irrigation department, Patna and he has more than 10 years teaching and research experience. The main objective of this competition was to provide social awareness regarding Covid-19 to the students. This best slogan event was successfully coordinated by Assistant Professor Mr. Satyaveer singh. Best slogan award was won by Mr. Neeraj Kumar (Guru Nanak Dev University), second award won by Ms. Neha, belongs to IIMT College of Engineering and Third award Engineering. On Friday 22 May 2020, A webinar on "AutoCAD & Revit Architecture” was successfully conducted by the Department of Civil Engineering on Facebook through the registration link as follows: https://forms.gle/Wt3yfN7U9iFoVGap6 Mr. Adesh Pal was the speaker of this webinar. This webinar was helpful for the students of CE2, CE3, and CE4 as Revit is now a days a common software for the civil and mechanical Engineering work. Head of the department Mrs. Tabassum Abbasi welcome the speaker and after that webinar starts. More than 320 students attended this webinar on Facebook, out of which 280 students joined this webinar who were studying in various government and private colleges across the country. This event was successfully Webinar on AutoCAD & Revit Architecture coordinated by Assistant Professor Mr. Harpreet singh.E- Certificates were provided to students who attended this webinar session. Page 5 Technical Quiz competition event On Tuesday 26 May 2020,Technical Quiz competition was successfully conducted by the Department of Civil Engineering through the registration https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/ 1FAIpQLSdTPUT4mY6LDH74wV_IMdDrjasWmIhcqb- 20eBfgALRYtdDTw/viewform?vc=0&c=0&w=1 95 Students of CE2, CE3, and CE4 took part in this competition. This event was successfully coordinated by Assistant Professor Mr. Harender Bhati. The main objective of this competition was to revive technical knowledge during this lockdown period. The quiz comprises of 50 questions and 60 minutes duration will be provided to attempt the quiz. Nitin Gupta topped in this competition by securing 92 marks out of 100.
