  1. How To Remove Mining Dust From Air By JNB Labs

  2. The world around us is faced with an increasing requirement for raw materials. This implies that more and more mining will be performed. Due to this reason, a major source of concern arises. The problem of mining dust is a matter of great concern for the mining equipment's. An even more alarming matter is the health of the people who operate those machines. Mining poses a problem both on the surface where it spreads out in the open, and as well as underground where it remains confined.

  3. When it comes to dust control, there is a difference in the dust control underground and the mining efforts on the surface. This difference is related to the confined space. This seemingly troublesome situation has worked to the advantage of the miners who have been solving the problem in an efficient manner. This is because the mining tunnels lack windows and cracks in the doorway. These tunnels do possess ventilation shafts that helps alleviate the situation. This implies that the attempts for dust control will no longer be difficult as the airborne particles can be removed easily.

  4. Underground mining accounts for 33 percent of the coal in the coal mining industry of America. Out of this quantity, around half of the coal comes through long wall mining. According to some estimates, there are around 45 long wall mines operating in America. This calls for the need to keep the concentration of dust down in these areas. This can be achieved by implementing dust control measures.

  5. Such mines are usually flooded with bed scrubbers. This allows the dust to be reduced. Apart from these scrubbers, the size of the shafts needs to be increased in order to help improve the flow of air. These steps help in decreasing the intensity of the floating particles. This has been very effective as the net result has led to a decrease in the coal workers contracting Pneumoconiosis. In 1973, the numbers stood at an alarming 28 percent. However, by 1999, they had dropped to just 3.3 percent.

  6. The primary methods of controlling mine dust are the use of ventilation shafts accompanied by the usage of water sprayers. Air is forced down the shafts, while water is sprayed in the blasting areas and drilling areas. This helps improve the air quality. Exhaust fans are employed for helping decrease the dust. The logic behind spraying air with water is that the outside environment will not be affected.

  7. Mining dust will continue to be a problem as long as the process of mining continues. However, the good part is that the amount of dust can be significantly reduced. This can be achieved by using the proper equipment's and the necessary precautions.
