  2. SESSION OBJECTIVES To share the vision of the Children and Young People’s Offer (CYP) To clarify the process and identify the next steps for this pilot To determine NGB engagement

  3. THE IMPORTANCE OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY Improved educational standards Active healthy lifestyles Develops confidence, self esteem, team work Development of personal and social skills Skill development School – Community – Elite level The 4 A’s – accessible, attractive, affordable, appropriate

PESSYP STRATEGY – ‘The 5hr offer’ Are you aware of the PESSYP strategy targets set for Partnerships? 2010/2011 – 80% 3hrs (5-16yrs) 2010/2011 – 40% 5hrs (3hrs 16-19yrs) 2012/2013 – 60% 5hrs (3hrs 16-19yrs) Who is responsible for delivery? Schools and SSP’s – 3hrs through curriculum and OSHL on school site Community and club providers (NGB’s) – additional 2hrs

  5. The Vision....... To have SSP’s coordinating and delivering elements of the 5 hour offer in partnership with NGBs and CSP’s and to enable school and youth sport to contribute to NGB whole sport plans. The story so far....... PDM’s have conducted RAG analysis on chosen sports Targets set on 4 categories – Competition, Club Sport, Coaching, Volunteering Analysis based on local knowledge 3 targets to be set per sport Further analysis is needed regarding Gifted & Talented and Engagement & Participation

  6. BEDFORDSHIRE SSP & NGB LANDSCAPING Six pilot sports selected by YST: Cricket, Rugby Union, Cycling, Badminton, Judo, Table Tennis A further 6 sports selected by PDM’s after local analysis: Swimming, Gymnastics, Netball, Tennis, Basketball, Hockey

  7. RAG ANALYSIS Red - Most need for the young people in the individual SSP. Amber - Some need for the young people in the individual SSP. Green - Little need for the young people in the individual SSP.

  9. NGB & SSP Partnership working Working in groups of 3, briefly discuss ways in which you are engaging with SSP’s in your current role.

Key Priorities for Bedfordshire NGB’s to declare interest in participation (capacity) NGB’s to complete RAG analysis of their sport locally Specific goals to be agreed either geographically or county wide together with CSP NGB’s work with SSP’s and CSP to deliver a “Schools Offer” CREATIVITY FOCUS ENERGY
