  1. State Board: Recommended Graduation Plan December 12, 2006

  2. Highlights • On Friday, Nov 17th the State Board approved a recommended graduation plan that increases the number of math and science credits. • Current high school students are ‘grandfathered’. • Students entering high school next fall will follow the revised plan.

  3. Highlights • Currently, four credits in English language arts and social studies are required. • The revised plan also requires four credits in math and four in science. • The total number of credits for the Recommended Graduation Plan is raised from 24 to 26.

  4. Highlights • Given that a student can earn a maximum 7 credits per school year, over 4 years he/she can earn up to 28 total credits. • The revised Recommended Plan prescribes 26 of the 28 credits.

  5. Science • IPC may be taken as a credit before the senior year of high school • Students must take 3 science credits with one from each category: • Biology, AP biology • Chemistry, AP chemistry • Physics, Principles Of Tech, AP physics

  6. Science • For students going into 9th grade in 2012-13, IPC no longer will count toward the Recommended and Distinguished programs. • In 2012-13, IPC will continue to count toward the Minimum plan.

  7. Mathematics • Three math credits must be earned in Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. • If selected, Math Models (MMA) may count as a credit, but it must be taken prior to Algebra II. • Courses available as fourth credit are: • Precalculus, AP calculus AB, AP calculus BC, Algebra III Ind. Study, & AP Stat’s
