    4. ENGINE FIRE IN THE AIR IMMEDIATE ACTIONS F uel Cock OFF, Pump OFF I gnition OFF P ropeller Feather (if practicable) SUBSEQUENT ACTIONS A irspeed 60knots (App Speed below 400 ft) L anding area Select E ngine Do not restart R adio Emergency call (if time permits)

    5. SMOKE, FUMES OR FIRE IN THE COCKPIT IMMEDIATE ACTIONS R adio Emergency call M ain switch Off C ircuit breakers(2) Trip C abin heating Off(in) V entilators Open for smoke or fumes Close for fire L and As soon as practicable SUBSEQUENT ACTIONS CO detector Monitor for discolouration

    6. POWER LOSS AFTER TAKE-OFF IMMEDIATE ACTIONS A irspeed 60knots (App Speed below 400 ft) R PM Check 2300 or more If both parameters are met then proceed as for: PARTIAL POWER LOSS AFTER TAKE-OFF In all other cases proceed as for: TOTAL POWER LOSS AFTER TAKE-OFF WARNING Engine failure may be progressive MONITOR RPM

    7. PARTIAL POWER LOSS AFTER TAKE-OFF SUBSEQUENT ACTIONS C heck height If at or above 400 ft, or if 400 ft is achievable, then turn towards the airfield (not below 300 ft) for a mini circuit. If impractical carry out a FORCED LANDING When time permits check: T hrottle Select fully open C arb heat In (COLD) Out (HOT) if carb icing suspected C hoke IN F uel Cock ON, Pump ON When Convenient: R adio Emergency Call When landing assured in selected landing area: T hrottle Closed

    8. TOTAL POWER LOSS AFTER TAKE-OFF IMMEDIATE ACTIONS A irspeed Min 60knots (App Speed below 400 ft) H eight Check. Select landing area as below Below 300 ft AGL Land ahead within the are 45 degrees either side of heading, into wind where possible 300 to 500 ft AGL Land ahead as above. If the area is unsuitable then turn back towards the airfield, MAX 30 degrees angle of bank, and assess options for a mini circuit or downwind landing Above 500 ft AGL Turn back towards the airfield and assess options of mini circuit or downwind landing. Final turn is to be commenced at a minimum of 250 ft AGL. Wings are to be levelled at 100 ft AGL

    9. TOTAL POWER LOSS AFTER TAKE-OFF If time permits: F uel Cock Off, Pump OFF I gnition OFF P ropeller Feather (if practicable) When convenient: R adio Emergency call FORCED LANDING

    10. ENGINE FAILURE IN FLIGHT IMMEDIATE ACTIONS A irspeed 60 knots L anding area Select Diagnosis: Refer to table below and select the most appropriate drill

    11. MECHANICAL FAILURE SUBSEQUENT ACTIONS F uel Cock Off, Pump OFF I gnition OFF P ropeller Feather (if practicable) If time permits: R adio Emergency Call Carry out FORCED LANDING

    12. NON-MECHANICAL FAILURE SUBSEQUENT ACTIONS R PM Check. (Level flight at 60 knots is unlikely with less than 2300 RPM) Confirm: T hrottle Fully forward C arb heat In(COLD) Out(HOT) if carb icing suspected C hoke In F uel Cock ON, Pump ON. Check tank contents I gnition ON

    13. ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS OVERVOLTING Symptom: Voltmeter indicates above 15 volts IMMEDIATE ACTIONS A lternator c/b (Labelled Generator Fuse) Trip V oltmeter Monitor (see Consideration) E lectrical loads Reduce Land as soon as practicable Consideration: Battery powered services operate until reaching their drop out voltages

    14. ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS UNDERVOLTING Symptom: One or all of the following may be present Generator warning lamp illuminated Voltmeter indicating less than 12 volts Ammeter indicating more than 5 amps discharge Radio display flashing IMMEDIATE ACTIONS E lectrical loads Reduce L and As soon as practicable Consideration:

    15. ABANDONING BY PARACHUTE PREMEDITATED: W arn crew Prepare to abandon the aircraft by parachute R adio Mayday call T ransponder Squawk 7700 T hrottle Close I gnition OFF P ropeller Un-feather (handle may hinder exit) A irbrakes Closed and locked
