    12. International Newspapers Conference, 22-24 February 2005 Demonstration http://www-test.nla.gov.au/apps/argus/ This is the prototype we have built as part of stage 1. It contains test data from the existing 1861, 1862 and 1865 indexes. There are three primary access methods: Browse Index, Browse Headings and Search. Browse Index is the function most like browsing the printed index. Ill bring up the same entry for Shipping that we saw in the print example. As you can see, it is identical, but there are some differences. These cross references are links that take you to the entry under the referenced heading (select ships) Also, I can move easily between entries for each year (select next year). The Browse Headings function allows me to browse a list of all the headings used across all the years that are available online. (enter Shipping.) The difference between this screen and the Browse Index screen is that it gives me a report of the number of articles indexed under this heading for all the indexed years.
