  1. The Appearance of the Bikini and Designer The Appearance of the Bikini and Designer Bathing Suits Bathing Suits Nowadays, we can enter any Swimwear Boutique and choose the Best Bathing Suits available in any size, shape or color without becoming causing a social upheaval. However, until the 1950s bathing suits were very different to what we see today and the changes were not easily accepted. Even though the history of the bikini can be traced back to antiquity- illustrations of Roman women wearing bikini-like garments during competitive athletic events have been found in several locations with the most famous of them is Villa Romana del Casale- French engineer Louis Réard was the first to launch the modern bikini, modeled by Micheline Bernardini, on July 5, 1946. The name for his design originated from the Bikini Atoll, where post-war testing on the atomic bomb was happening. While French women welcomed the revolutionary Designer Bathing Suits, the Catholic church, some media, and a majority of the public initially thought the design was risqué or even scandalous. Contestants in the first Miss World beauty pageant wore these Designer Bathing Suits in 1951, but the bikini was then banned from the competition. Some of the first women to try these Designer Bathing Suits were actress Bridget Bardot, who drew attention when she was photographed wearing a bikini on the beach during the Cannes Film Festival in 1953, Rita Hayworth and Ava Gardner who also gathered press attention when they wore bikinis. During the early 1960s, the design appeared on the cover of Playboy and Sports Illustrated, giving it additional legitimacy. Ursula Andress drew much attention when she emerged from the surf wearing what is now an iconic bikini in the James Bond movie Dr. No (1962). The deer skin bikini Raquel Welch wore in the film One Million Years B.C. (1966) turned her into an international sex symbol and was described as a definitive look of the 1960s.

  2. From then on bikinis as well as one-piece bathing suits came to be equally accepted in Western culture and can be purchased in many Swimwear Boutique. According to French fashion historian Olivier Saillard, the bikini is perhaps the most popular type of female beachwear around the globe because of "the power of women, and not the power of fashion".

  3. Designer bathing suits are since then being created by some of the best clothes designers around the world turning the bikini industry into a US$811 million business annually. The best swimwear is that created by professional fashion designers that have the knowledge and ability to create fashionable garments of the highest quality. The best swimwear is a piece- or two pieces- that fits impeccably and uses fabrics of high quality. However, Swimwear nowadays does not only refer to bikinis and one-pieces but also to other garments that compliment the Best Bathing Suits. At a Swimwear Boutique you will also find designer hats and Cover Ups like maxis, rompers, tunics and flirty dresses. Sun protection is a necessity thus making hats a must for the beach as well as the pool. Many of these are especially designed to with your bathing suit.
