  1. Why Do Job Recruiters/Interviewers Ask If I Am Applying At Any Other Company During A Job Interview? Interviews can happen in any of the two ways. Either the interviewer will make you feel comfortable or will make you feel sitting in front of ‘ADOLF HITLER’ live in your life. Nevertheless, these interviews can go from being the best to the worst. Ever pondered why such a dramatic impression is always associated with interviews? The answer is nothing else but the complicated minds of the recruiters. These people are perhaps the worst nightmare a candidate can ever have. The reason is simple - their tactful and diplomatic questions which can prove to be mind-boggling enough to shut your rational senses. But then, why these questions seem to be so difficult that a person being interviewed literally has sweat trickling down his spine? The most twisted question that has troubled a lot of candidates is whether they are interviewing with any other company or not. Now the answer to this question might seem to be simple enough. But in reality, the level of simplicity is too much to cry for. Please note the sarcasm - whenever an interviewer asks you whether you are applying for any other job, he doesn’t want to know a simple yes or no. No, at that moment, his mind runs at miles per second, conjuring up situations that can be in his favor. His putting across this diplomatic question is to learn the maximum out from you to ascertain and evaluate your candidature well. Let’s have a look at the said scenario! WHY ARE RECRUITERS SO EAGER TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR JOB HUNT PROCESS? The exact answer to this question is not entirely known. From the mindset of a candidate who is going to be interviewed, the answer becomes too vague to reason out. But, looking from a recruiter’s point of view, we can say that sitting on that chair and at that moment, his job is to understand the mindset of the candidate. In fact, the meaning of this question varies from a fresher to an experienced employee.

  2. A fresher usually sits for interviews once he completes his graduation. So, the number of interviews, and also the companies put an impression on the capability of the individual. As for an experienced employee, the number of interviews he attends signifies the talent he has. However, there are other reasons for which a recruiter usually asks about the job hunt you are subjecting yourself to. 1. To understand the speed of the interview process The very first reason is basically for the speed at which they are hiring. If your interviews with other companies are also going well and they are pretty much impressed, then the concerned recruiter will speed up the process and immediately hire you. On the other hand, if the status of your ongoing interviews with other companies is not too good, they might also invest in some more time to decide. 2. To assess the market position of your skills and talent If the number of jobs you have applied to is more, that means your skills are either too much in demand, or you have minimal abilities. Again, if you have lesser interviews, it will either mean that your skills are very rare or you don’t have the minimum qualifications to fit in well. 3. To understand whether you are valuable in terms of job Recruiters always want to confirm whether you are an asset to them or not. More the interviews and job applications, more significant will be your market demand. So, naturally, you will become an asset for them. WHAT TYPE OF ANSWERS WILL SATISFY THE RECRUITERS? After knowing why the recruiters ask the question about your job applications in other companies, you need to think an appropriate answer as well. Answers should be tactful so that they sound true and genuine. Also, be cautious about how much information you are giving to your interviewer. Never allow the ball to jump from your court to theirs. Handling recruiters well come much after applying to the right jobs. Hence, choosing the right platform to apply to the right jobs is what leads to the second one.

And in the meantime, do not let your mind stay idle rather prepare your answer to the question: “Are you applying for any other jobs? Click Here”
