  1. Pre Wedding Rituals of Tamil Matrimony Moving from north to south, weddings are very different and very ethnic. Tamil weddings are known for their spirituality and for their richness and their wedding rituals are very elegant. Tamil Wedding ceremonies are detailed & unique in terms of traditional richness and also display the rich heritage imbibed from VEDAS and PURANAS. Tamilians, in a arrange marriage, both families match the horoscopes of the prospective bride & groom, When the match found, Parents of bride and groom exchange vows. There are a many rituals and ceremonies that are conducted before a Tamil Matrimony

  2. Panda Kaal Muhurtham It is Worshipping the ancestral deity. It is pre wedding ritual where both families worship their ancient God, is also called Kula Devata for their happy & successful marriage.

  3. Sumangali Prarthanai Sumangali is married women whose husband is still alive. It is pre wedding ritual organized by the family to offer prayers to women ancestors who have died before their husbands.

  4. Pallikai Thellichal This is pre wedding ritual performed by the bride’s family and it signifies fertility. Paalikai mean earthen pots that is prepared a day before of the marriage & are spread at the base with mango leaves (mavilai) and sand.

  5. Naandhi Shraaddham It is a custom to invoke the ancestors to seek blessings for the prosperity of both. Fathers of the bride and the groom take part in the worshipping ritual at their own homes

  6. Nichayathartham It is formal an engagement ceremony before a day where bride and groom’s families gather at one place. This ceremony is performed after praying Lord Ganesha and both families announce their final agreement to the wedding.
