    The United Nations are the group that has been working in Haiti. The United Nations have been in Haiti since February of 1993.

    There were four missions in Haiti; they were the United Nations Transition Mission in Haiti. This was between February 1993 and June 1996. The next mission to Haiti was the United Nations Support Mission in Haiti. This was between July 1996 and July 1997. The third missions was United Nations Security Mission in Haiti. This was between August and November of 1997. The fourth mission was the United Nations Civilian Police Mission in Haiti. This was between December of 1997 and July of 2000. All of these missions were to settle a political conflict in Haiti.

    In February of 1993 the United Nations involvement in Haiti started. This was called the United Nations-OAS International Civilian Mission. In September 1993 the United Nations got Security Council for peacekeeping operation in the country. This was called the United Nations Mission in Haiti. In July 1994, the Security Council deployed 20,000-strong multinational force to prompt the return of the Haitian authorities to Haiti.

    Haiti is located on the island just below Cuba.

    The United Nations is and has been in Haiti because of all the problems they are trying to solve in Haiti. They have been trying to solve the crime rate and food problems. Their biggest problem that they face in Haiti is the Gangs. These gangs are as big as 25 people walking around with guns. The United Nations is also trying to stop the build up of gangs and get read of the gangs that all ready exist.
