  1. ARE WE HEADING TO A MARKET CRASH If you are a believer that there is a cyclical phenomenon attached with every event then “SHEMITAH” is going to cement your belief. Firstly, what is Shemitah? Shemitah is the 7thyear of the 7year cycle that is followed by the Jews. This 7th year has many rituals being followed e.g. No sowing/reaping of crops, all debts are remitted etc. Another aspect that we will focus here is that at the end of the Shemitah year there have been heavy financial catastrophe in the world markets. To just bring back the old memories let’s just take a look at a few of the Shemitah years that saw stock markets collapse – 1973(Yom Kippur War), 1980, 1987(Wall Street crash), 2001(9/11 terror attacks and subsequent market crash), 2008(worst financial crisis since the great depression)…… and here is 2015. September 13th is the last day of the Shemitah year in 2015. We have left out 1994 because there was no such market collapse in this Shemitah year. Shemitah is the 7th year and do you see the 777 points fall in the Dow as merely a coincidence? The biggest ever single-day stock market crash occurred on Sept. 29, 2008, a Shemitah year, when the Dow fell 777 points and lost $1.2 trillion in value and no surprises that this was the last day of the Shemitah year in 2008!!! The warning signs have already started to flash brightly with the turmoil in Greece the recent blood bath in the Chinese financial markets which have had its effect on the world markets as well, the currency hammering of the emerging economies…..are these the signals? Looking at some of the aspects in Indian context- Markets have come around 10% off their recent highs. The hammering of the banking sector. Lending by banks is at 8.4%(lowest in 20 years). Lowest rainfall in the month of august in the last 6 years. Down grade of India’s growth projection by Moody’s. Surprising fall in profits of the major listed companies.
