    Born 13 September, 1916 Flew with the RAF during WW2 Wrote stories for the Saturday Evening Post during this time Began writing children's books in 1960 First 2 books were great successes. Died :November 23, 1990

    Mainly fiction Some factual too e.g. Boy and Going Solo Simple, funny style Perfect for readers gaining confidence on their own Aimed at 6-11 year olds

    Born 31 July,1965 Written: Harry Potter series only (so far) Earned 545 million with them Ranked as 13th richest woman in Britain Whats next? A REST!

    Another Victorian classics writer Wrote for adults 13 16 year olds can cope with her books Books nearly all at least partly autobiographical This is what makes them so successful Old-fashioned writing style e.g. Suddenly, he turned away, with an inarticulate exclamation, full of a passionate emotion of some kind.     They all write for different age ranges They all have quite different writing styles They are all very famous and well-known We like their books quite a lot
