How to write a narrative essay . . . • Some tips---- Make sure you a have setting (time and place), and a main character Use who, what, why, when, where and how to guide your thinking There should be a progression of action and time in the story. Narration Checklist • Does your essay’s thesis suggest the significance of the events you discuss? • Have you included enough specific details? • Have you varied your sentence structure? • Is the order of events clear to readers? • Do your tenses enable readers to follow the sequence of events? • Do your transition link events in time? For example, You can tell a story that shows 1. Better safe than sorry 2. A friend is worth more than a hundred dollars in your pocket 3. Blood is thicker than water 4. Honesty is the best policy 5.
