  2. Oceans of the World 75% of the earth is covered in water. The oceans are all merged together to make the biggest habitat in the world. The Kerzner Marine Foundationis helping out marine ecosystems that are threatened due to overpopulation and overexploitation.

Marine Life Facts • The ocean takes up 99% of the living space on earth? • Coral can be used to replace human bones. • Scientists estimate that life began in the ocean 3.1 billion years ago. • Some ocean fish have both female and male organs. • Remains of algae are used in pet-litter, pool filters, cosmetics, and tooth polish. • The largest Sea star weighs 11 lbs.

  4. Strange Ocean Creatures • The angler fish lives 700 to 1,000 meters below the sea. They live off of crustaceans and other fish and can grow up to 8 inches in length. Most female angler fish are larger than the male and usually have more teeth.

  5. Strange Ocean Creatures The fang tooth fishlives up to 2,000 feet deep in the ocean. They live off of crustaceans and other fish and can grow up to 6 inches in length. They have a row of sharp fangs and are dying because of trash and chemicals found in the ocean.

  6. Strange Ocean Creatures • The bat ray eats small fish, mollusks, and crustaceans. Female bat rays are larger than males.

  7. Strange Ocean Creatures The jellyfish can sting with as much force as a bullet. Their explosive nerve and blood attacking poisons are injected at the same speed also.

The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral reef system and is composed of billions of coral polyps. • It is composed of around 3,000 individual reefs and 900 islands. • The reef takes up approximately 344,400 square kilometers. • It can be seen from outer space and is the world's biggest single structure made by living organisms.

The Great Barrier Reefis home to • 1500 species of fish • 360 species of hard corals • one-third of the world's soft corals • 4000 species of mollusks • 1500 species of sponge • 800 species of echinoderms 500 species of seaweed • 23 species of marine mammals • 6 species of marine turtles (rare or threatened)
