  2. Church Planter Church planting is a process that results in a new (local) Christian church being established. It should be distinguished from church development, where a new service, new worship center or fresh expression is created that is integrated into an already established congregation. For a local church to be planted, it must eventually have a separate life of its own and be able to function without its parent body, even if it continues to stay in relationship denominationally or through being part of a network. www.brianjnorris.com/

Church Planter As starting a new church itself is a very large, long-term project, the church planter must show capabilities of being able to plan out such large, long-term projects in a prayerful and intentional way. A church planter needs to show the ability to communicate and apply Scripture in a compelling way. Keeping in mind that people have varying levels of skill and style in this area, requiring healthy communication skills does not mean requiring the planter to deliver “sermonic pyrotechnics” or have the verbal affluence of those leading America’s largest churches. www.brianjnorris.com/

  4. Church Planter • There are several different models of church planting: • Parachute or parachute drop method. In this method, a church planter and family move into a new location to start a church from scratch. • House, or cell church, method. Small groups, called cells, which meet in homes may form and multiply using a relational model (see house church).
