  1. 5 tips to have fun with online dating

  2. Be sincere – Try to keep your online dating profile as real as possible. Saying that you are a couple of inches taller is fine but too much exaggeration won’t get you anywhere. If you don’t like pets there’s no point of saying that you love them. Just be honest and you are bound to meet someone with the same preferences sooner than later, that’s the beauty of online dating!

  3. Be interesting – The online dating world has plenty of lonely hearts. You need to make yourself be noticed; without resorting to absurd pictures or eccentric outfits of course! Focus on what sets you apart from the rest; mention an exotic holiday, a unique hobby, the time when you attended a really cool concert or met a celebrity.

  4. Don’t be in a rush - A great online dating tip is to be relaxed and take your time. If you like someone, spend time in knowing them. Ask a lot of questions, discuss a broad range of topics before deciding to meet in person. This way you would have a ton of things to speak about when you meet in person.

  5. Be specific - When creating your online dating profile, don’t be vague. Stay away from describing yourself as ‘happy-go-lucky’ or ‘high on life’. Be more specific; give specific examples of what you enjoy doing such traveling or playing a certain sport. Similarly, while messaging someone be more detailed and specific. Have a sense of humor when commenting on someone’s profile, a witty remark is often well received and appreciated. It is best to steer clear of commenting on one’s looks in the first interaction. Nine of ten times it will not be well received and come off as creepy.

  6. Be safe - If everything works out and you do decide to meet, be safe. Pick a public place. Inform a friend of the meeting and keep them posted. For the first date, go for something that is short and inexpensive; coffee is ideal. Do not get drunk. Don’t let someone new pick you or drop you home.
