Interesting Facts • Buddhism is a nontheistic Religion • Buddhism is the 4th Largest Religion of the world which comes after Christianity, Islam and Hinduism. • Gautama Buddha is being considered as the founder of the Buddhism. • Foundation Place of the Buddhism is identified as the North East Part of India. • There are 3 important texts of the Buddhism namely SuttaPitaka, VinayaPitaka and AbhidhammaPitaka. 1

According to the teachings of the Buddha, purpose of life should be to get oneself free from the suffering. • The Full moon day is considered as the sacred day in Buddhism Religion. • Buddha Purnima, marks as the day of birth and death of Buddha. • Buddha Purnima, is also marked by the enlightenment day of the Buddha. • The Enlightenment of Buddha is known as the Nirvana while the death is termed as the Parinirvana. 2
