  1. 23.05.2018 Semalt Explains To All WordPress Site Owners How To Set Up Google Analytics Michael Brown, the Semalt Customer Success Manager, is 100% sure that Google analytics is a great way to understand your audience. It will help you to ?nd out what people think about you, which of your content is most popular, as well as the location of your visitors. This is where you will learn how to set up Google analytics. If you already have Google Analytics on your website, I bet you will still learn something new. The ?rst step involves signing up for Google Analytics using your Google account. All you have to do is to set up a name for your account, input the URL of your website and set the right time zone for your location. Finally, accept Google's terms and conditions. After you have agreed to the terms and conditions, you will receive a Tracking Code Section in your account. Having a Google Analytics account gives you access to a number of features which have to be turned on. They provide you with extra information on the visitors your website receives. By turning on the demographics and interest reports, you will get data on the age, interests and gender of your visitors. The next step is to enable advertising features. This allows you to get data on the age, interests and gender of your website visitors. After enabling advertising features you need to exclude your IP address from your Google analytics. It is likely that you visit your website a lot more than any of your customers. You may exclude your visits by setting up a ?lter. https://rankexperience.com/articles/article1407.html 1/2

  2. 23.05.2018 However, you need to know your IP address to block it. The easiest way to ?nd it out is by googling 'What is my IP.' If you have a google analytics account and exclude your IP address, you will notice a huge change in your numbers. Once you know your IP address, you need to go to the Filters section. Set up a ?lter name, ensure the ?lter type is prede?ned and set it to Exclude. As the source or destination, choose traf?c from the IP address after which you will paste your IP address. If you have multiple IP addresses, you will have to repeat this procedure. Your website will receive hits from bots and spiders. Bots visit your website, and after an extremely short time, they leave. They can be extremely annoying, especially if you have been using Google Analytics for a while. You may be trying to get a read on your data, but random bot visitors are skewing your statistics. Luckily, there are a number of ways in which you can eradicate these annoying bots from your statistics. The ?rst step to achieve this is ticking off 'block bots and spiders' in your account. Visit the View Settings section of your admin panel, and at the very bottom, you have to tick off the checkbox, and Google will instantly exclude any known bots from the statistics you receive. You can supplement this by installing the GM Block Bots plugin. https://rankexperience.com/articles/article1407.html 2/2
