  1. DDoS Attacks & Its Types Distributed Denial-Of-Service attack usually interrupts or suspends the services of a targeted server by overwhelming it with a flood of internet traffic. An attacker needs a large number of computers or other devices scattered across the internet in order to successfully implement a DDoS attack. Types of DDoS Attacks These attacks can be divided into three major types Volume Based Attacks - These attacks use large amount of traffic in order to saturate bandwidth of the attacked site. Example: UDP Flood Attacks ICMP Flood Attacks NTP Amplification Protocol Attacks - Such attacks are generally focused on exploiting the server resources to render a target in-accessible. Example: SYN Floods Smurf DDoS Ping Of Death Application Layer Attacks - It is very hard to identify such attacks. The main goal of such an attack is to crash the web server.
