  2. THANK YOU Thanks to all who participated in this survey and made it possible. Special thanks to Brian Moran for helping with the survey distribution. The purpose of this survey was to investigate the medical coverage provided to student-athletes competing in ACHA.

  11. Who Provides First Aid? Other: player, rink staff, parents, EMT/EMS, team managers 11 out of 24 coaches providing first aid had no certification

Final Thought Decision about medical coverage of student-athlete participation should be based on the potential for serious or catastrophic injury, not on gender, sport profile or level of competition. Ice hockey is classified as a sport with increased risk (based on combined injury risk and catastrophic index) where certified athletic trainer should be at all practices.
