  1. Type of Indian Musi It is believed that Brahma Ji gave the musical boon to Narada Muni. In the four Vedas, the mantras of the Samaveda were pronounced with the use of seven vowels according to the Vedic saptak. BharataNatyashastra, composed by Bharata Muni, is considered to be the first written evidence of the history of Indian music.   2. In this way Indian music was divided into two parts:  1) North Indian music or Hindustani music 2) Carnatic style. 

  3. North Indian music or Hindustani music  The origin of Hindustani classical music can be traced back to Delhi Sultanate and Amir Khusro (1233 AD-1325 AD). It is believed that he invented sitar and tabla and also composed new ragas.  It is said that there was a Satanic influence in Tansen's music.  

  4. Meghmalaharis one of the famous ragas, by the singing of this raga Tansen get the rain come.  Some of the most popular ragas are µ Bahar, Bhairavi, SindhuBhairavi, BhimaPalasi, Darbari, Desh, Hansdhwani, Jai Jayanti, Meghmalhar, Todi, Yemen Peelu, Shyamakalyan, Khambaja etc. Devotional music like kirtan, bhajan, raga is included in 'Adigranth'. There are many music school in Delhi that offers classical as well as western music.

  5. Carnatic style The composition of Carnatic music is collectively credited to three composers ShyamShastri, Thyagaraja and MuthuswamyDixithar (1700 AD to 1850 AD). Bansuri, Veena, Nadaswaram, Mridangam, Ghatam are the main instruments used in Carnatic music. Despite some dissimilarity between Hindustani and Carnatic music, they have some similar characteristics, such as the 'Alapan' of Carnatic music is identical to the 'Alap' of Hindustani classical music.

  6. Apart from classical music and Carnatic style, India has a rich heritage of folk music. This music represents public sentiments.Rajasthani folk songs like Mandare popular all over the country. Ragini is a famous folk song of Haryana. You can check out Music School in South Delhi.
