  1. WEC Committee on the Performance of Generating Plant (PGP) Workshop “POWER SECTOR TRENDS & ISSUES: TECHNICAL AND COMMERCIAL BENCHMARKING OF POWER PLANTS” Mexico City, 4 November 2008 The KISSY - Database Jürgen Aydt, EnBW Kraftwerke AG, Germany

  2. What is KISSY? • KISSY is an abbreviation for the German • Kraftwerksinformationssystem – • which means: Power plants information system a database managed by VGB, which is an European association an information system for thermal power plants multilingual: Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and soon in Danish an online evaluation tool It is possible to analyse component experiences WEC PGP, 4 November 2008

  3. Who participates in KISSY? KISSY contents information from 10 countries and 359 units WEC PGP, 4 November 2008

  4. WEC PGP, 4 November 2008

  5. Basis are harmonized terms Basis of every collaboration is a common understanding. Therefore VGB • defines performance indicators, terms, descriptions • and the necessary calculation-formulas • fixes rules for the data collection and • edits booklets to publish the results WEC PGP, 4 November 2008

  6. Basis are harmonized terms Objective is to harmonize • the understanding of those defined indicators • the data collection of the input data • the calculation of the indicators and statistics and • the use of those indicators WEC PGP, 4 November 2008

  7. Example for the necessity of uniform ideas WEC PGP, 4 November 2008

  8. Terms of utility industry • Part B • Power and District Heat • Booklet 3 • Fundamentals and systematic of availability determinationfor Thermal Power Plants • 7th Edition 2008 The basic guideline The VGB work group “Definitions” has actualised our fundamental guideline. The English and German version were published in 2008 – also in a pdf-file. The French one will follow next year. The definitions of the former Unipede-indicators, that are supported, are included. WEC PGP, 4 November 2008

  9. Which data are collected in KISSY? • Information of the Utility (fixed data like adresses, etc.) • Information about the Power Plant Unit • Components ▪ Boiler ▪ Steam Turbine ▪ Gas Turbine ▪ Generator • Availability data • Unavailability Incidents WEC PGP, 4 November 2008
