  2. Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync

  3. Basis For The Protocol The Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync is based on Extensive Markup Language (XML). The markup language defines the rules in encoding documents in both human-readable and machine-readable formats and which emphasizes simplicity, usability and generality over the Internet. The mobile device and the Exchange ActiveSync communicate over Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP). The application protocol is designed for the distributed, collaborative and hypermedia information systems, thus, making it the basis for data communication in the World Wide Web. It is also the protocol for exchanging or transferring hypertext, which refers to the structured text using logical links between several text-based nodes. During its early years, the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync only supported MS Exchange Servers and MS Pocket PC devices. Nowadays, it has become the gold standard, so to speak, for the effective, efficient and secure synchronization between mobile devices and groupware – truly, one of the most revolutionary inventions of our time.

  4. Compatible Devices Individuals who want to take advantage of the features and functions of Exchange ActiveSync should select mobile phones that are compatible with it. This should not be an issue since most of the popular mobile phones are compatible with the protocol including but not limited to: (Microsoft uses an aggressive approach in its partnerships with mobile phone manufacturers for such computability) * Apple devices including the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad including the iPad Mini * Windows phones including the Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 7 as well as older versions * Android phones like Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One and LG Optimus G Pro * Blackberry devices like the BlackBerry 10 smartphone and the Blackberry Playbook tablet computer It must be emphasised, however, that many of these devices may not support all of the available mobile device mailbox policies. Checking these policies before actually using the Exchange ActiveSync is then highly recommended so as to set realistic expectations of what the protocol can and cannot do for the user. It should also be noted that Google only supports the protocol for paid subscriptions of Google Apps for Business in 2013. In previous years, Google also offered support for free Google apps accounts and for personal Gmail accounts.

  5. Benefits of the Protocol The protocol uses direct push technology in automatically providing its users with fast, easy and convenient over-the-air access to all of their emails as well as their tasks, notes and calendars. Even its installation on any compatible smartphone and tablet is fast, easy and automatic! With its features and functions, the Exchange ActiveSync provides for the following benefits: Speed The protocol contains 18 patented methods designed for the improvement of speed, effectiveness and efficiency of syncing transmissions – truly, the best in the industry. In a world where speed is a must for exchanging information, the protocol makes life so much easier for its users especially individuals who must work within an industry characterized by fast changes in the environment. Two-way syncing Changes to the collaboration data on the system are automatically recorded in both the protocol and the mobile device in real time mode. Think of it this way: The changes made on your MailEnable webmail interface are quickly pushed to your compatible mobile devices with changes made on your mobile devices just as quickly updated on the MailEnable interface. With such two-way syncing in real time, making wiser decisions based on real-time information becomes a possibility. Because the protocol can be used on majority of smartphones and tablets, the possibilities of use for the features and functions related to two-way syncing increases! Keep in mind that Apple, Nokia, Palm, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Symbian, among others, have adopted it into their personal devices. Indeed, the Exchange ActiveSync is a must for individuals and groups who want the best synching protocol for their mobile devices and groupware!
