  5. Observations • Effective Technologies Exist • Once Accepted People Love Filters • Perceived Value – Before & After • Poor Consumer Demand • Wide Spread Skepticism

  6. Demand & Water Quality Perceptions • Demand not predicated by scientific evidence • Water quality is not a high priority with many • Threshold to pay increases with education • People are skeptical of snake oil salesmen • Customers favor choice and selection

  7. Road Map to Success Legitimize Point of Use Technologies Must have international scientific community work in conjunction with governments to accept and certify usage. The children of the world do not have the luxury of waiting for silver bullets. Create Demand Large scale concerted efforts to educate the worlds population as to the water problem. Social and commercial “marketing” of household water treatment technologies. Technology must be pulled through rather than pushed down. Simultaneous Supply & Access Ethically, as demand is created affordable technology must be provided. Developing manufacturing & distribution pipelines of water improvement technologies. Continue research and development of current and future technologies.
