  1. How To Get Over A Cold Quickly The common cold is a viral infection that affects the upper respiratory tract. Several different viruses can cause a cold. The body responds by fighting the virus with the help of white blood cells, which makes us feel weak and tired. Symptoms can include a runny nose, headaches, sore throat, watery eyes, cough, nasal congestion, and sneezing. Aside from resting, here are some remedies that can make you feel better: Drink Warm Liquids: Warm liquids help to soothe the throat and dilute the mucus in the nasal passages. This can relieve nasal congestion, making it easier for your body to expel the virus. Think warm soups, herbal teas, and hot water. Add These To Your Daily Meals: ●Green leafy vegetables rich in iron to boost your immune system. Add spinach, broccoli, and cabbage to increase the production of white cells ●Fresh fruits like kiwi, blueberries, strawberries, and oranges ●Garlic -- it carries an anti-bacterial property that helps the production of antibodies ●Foods rich in beta-carotene like tomatoes, beetroot, carrot, grapefruit, and lemons ●Whole grains like oats, millets, brown rice for energy Make sure to avoid processed and fried foods as they contain preservatives which irritate the throat and increase mucus production. Pay Attention To Hygiene: Follow simple personal hygiene practices to prevent a cold. For example, if you’re unwell, distance yourself from others, especially in public places. Cover your mouth while coughing and sneeze into a handkerchief or tissue. Wash your hands regularly. Use an antibacterial hand wash or a regular soap and water – wash them for at least 20 seconds to get rid of bacteria. People often clean areas of their home they think look dirty and miss high bacterial areas such as the kitchen tap, door handles, and cleaning cloths. Young children can pick up germs very quickly, especially in schools or day care centers, so it’s important to stay vigilant in regards to hygiene. Seek Medical Help From House Call Doctors: It can be difficult to differentiate between a common cold and flu because the symptoms are often similar: stuffy nose, headache, tiredness, etc. While a cold isn’t a cause for much concern, the flu can be serious – especially for the elderly with underlying health conditions. If you’re in San Francisco and not sure whether you’re suffering from the flu or cold, call San Francisco
