  2. CLEANING SOLUTIONS Wet Mopping Wet mopping is among the most effective cleaning process for the control of heavy dirt and dust. In heavy traffic areas during wet weather or in places where disinfectants or germicides are used, the wet mop is the perfect tool. Premier Mop & Broom offers a wide variety of wet mop designs and fibers for any wet or damp cleaning job. LOOPED-END MOPS CUT-END MOPS Economical mop that will not fray or ravel. With proper laundering, these mops will last 10x longer than cut-end mops. Economical, general purpose floor mops. These popular products are non-launderable and do not last as long as looped-end mops YARN HEADBAND Cotton, rayon, synthetics and blend all have particular characteristics that make them more suited for one job than another. The table below gives advantages and dis- advantages for each type of yarn and suggest the best likely usage 5″ vinyl headband is secured to the mop with 6 rows of lock-stitching. The mesh headband offers greater durability and allows the yarn to dry thoroughly TAILBAND of them. Woven 1/2″ tape sewn toward the bottom of the mop to secure the yarn and prevent tangling. Bar- tacked to properly secure tailband to mop. Cleans 50% more floor per stroke and mops evenly without leaving gaps for faster mopping and lower labor cost. Standard on all looped-end mops ANTIMICROBIAL Antimicrobial additive is locked into the yarn to inhibit the growth of bacteria, mold, mildew and fungi that cause odors and stains and shorten product life YARN PLY ADVANTAGE USES YARN DISADVANTAGE Yarn ply indicates the number of strands twisted together to make a single yarn. More plies give added strength although high ply numbers do not necessarily mean higher quality yarn. More strands may add strength but they may also decrease absorbency. It is better and more cost-effective to choose a higher quality yarn than a high-ply, low quality yarn.   4. WET MOPS Looped-End The continuous loop construction has several advantages over cut-end mops.   15. LOOPED-END | CUT-END Wet Mop Options (01) 1" Narrow Mesh Head Band (07) Fantype Available on all cut-end wet mops. The sewn-in "tailbands" keep yarn spread in a fan shape, allowing maximum coverage. Tailbands help keep the mop intact, eliminating loose strands and excessive fraying. All cut-end wet mops come standard with a 1 1⁄4" wooven polyester tape headband. 1 1⁄4" vinyl coated nylon mesh headband are available on all looped-end wet mops. (03) Scrub Pad (08) Kwik Twist Available on all wet mops. We use 6 x 4.5" scrub pads for aggressive removal of marks and debris. Available on all wet mops. The plastic molded cap incorporates a metal threaded stud to accept Kwik Twist handles.   16. Premier offers many different options for all the wet mops we manufacture. Listed below are the options available for our looped-end and cut-end wet mops. (09) Kwik Twist Fantype (15) Kwik Stick Available on all wet mops. Push button releases mop from handle. Available on cut-end wet mops. The plastic molded cap incorporates a metal threaded stud to accept Kwik Twist handles. The sewn-in "tailbands" keep yarn spread in a fan shape, allowing maximum coverage. Tailbands help keep the mop intact, eliminating loose strands and excessive fraying. (10) Eliminator (40) Pre-Shrunk Available on all wet mops. The plastic molded cap is threaded to accept any handle with standard acme threads. Specific looped-end wet mops undergo a shrinking process during manufacturing to limit further shrinkage while in use.   17. WET MOPS Deck/Yacht This one piece utility mop is manufactured by securely fastening the yarn to the handle with a synthetic wrapping twine. The twine is used instead of wire to prevent rust and deterioration. This product contains NO metal parts.   23. CLEANING SOLUTIONS Dust Mopping Dust mopping is one of the most important forms of preventive maintenance. Used in conjunction with the walk-off mats and wet mops, it is the first line of defense against dirt and dust buildup. HOW DOES A DUST MOP WORKS? TECHNIQUES OF PROPER DUSTING A quality dust mop will work silently and effectively. It is the most effective tool for the removal of dirt and dust from the floor. The inner workings of a quality dust mop are probably the least understood of all cleaning tools. On their own, there are no yarns that can function effectively as a dust mop. The yarn must be able to absorb dust mop treatment and release it upon demand. This requires either the use of the natural fiber cotton, or the synthetic fiber rayon. The dust mop head should always be clean, properly treated and cured. After having been treated with an oil-based mop treatment, the head should be kept out of service for a minimum of 6 – 8 hours to cure and allow the treatment to absorb into the yarn. Dusting should begin at the farthest point from the end of the job. If one is using a swivel-type dust mop, the dusting motion would be in the form of a figure-8. Durable polyester backing dries quickly. DAILY CARE At the end of a work shift, the dust mop should be (1) properly cleaned, (2) re-treated, bagged(if possible) and let cure overnight. To maximize the effectiveness of a dust mop – follow this procedure whether the dust mop is a launderable or disposable type. 22 WWW.PREMIERMOP.COM

  24. HOW TO TREAT A DUST MOP HEAD As long as there is an adequate amount of dust mop treatment in the head, it will continue to pick dirt and dust from the floor and “lock” the soil in. Remember that treatment is constantly being transferred from the mop head to the soil it has picked up. To replace lost treatment, it is recommended that approximately on ounce of treatment per foot of mop head be applied with a trigger type sprayer. Once treatment has been applied to the yarn it begins to penetrate by a process called capillary action. Depending on the yarn being used, absorption may take anywhere from a few minutes to hours. To be safe, six to eight hours should be allocated for the process when using an oil based treatment – just spray it on and go to work – no time needs to be wasted between re-treating and dust mopping. In any case treatment should be re-applied to the dust mop head at least daily – providing a “ready” dust mop for each. BEST WAY TO REMOVE SOIL During the course of dust mopping, the soil should be unloaded from the dust mop. There is no agreement on the “best way” to do this. You can (1) brush the soil into a plastic bag with a standard pot brush, (2) vacuum the soil from the dust mop head, or (3) at the very least, shaking out, “out of doors,” in an area where the dirt will not be tracked back into the building.   25. DISPOSABLE VS. RENTAL DUST MOPS Disposable dust mops are generally pitted against the rental dust mops — which are by necessity, launderable. Disposable dust mops are factory treated and remain within the protective packaging until the seal is broken at the consumers. You begin with totally clean and unused product. If the daily maintenance procedures for these disposables are followed, you can expect these mops to effectively clean your floors for up to 3 months. It does not require an initial investment which is considered minimal in comparison to the cost of other maintenance tools. Generally, rental companies will provide free installation but any loss or damage will be borne by the consumer. Although disposable dust mops are as effective, if not more so, than their rental counterparts, they generally do not come with a colored backing material. Perhaps the biggest advantage offered by the disposables is that they are in your stock and available for use when there is a sudden demand for extras. in other words, the cleanliness of your floor is not determined by a pre-determined usage figure.
