  4. ILLINOIS OFFICE OF TRADE AND INVESTMENT State of Illinois – West European Office • The Illinois West Europe Office covers a territory compromised of 16 countries. Countries include: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, and The United Kingdom. (Finland is covered by the Warsaw office.) • Exports from Illinois to West Europe totaled $10,471,431,566 billion in 2006; an increase of 19.8% over 2005’s amount of $8,740,599,380 billion. Illinois’ major export sectors in 2006 to West Europe were: 1) Machinery (non-electrical) - $2,514,315,959 2) Chemicals - $2,401,267,443 3) Computer and Electronic Products - $1,369,440,070 4) Transportation Equipment - $1,177,658,314 5) Electrical Equipment, Appliances, and Components - $817,538,801 6) Miscellaneous Manufactured Commodities - $630,986,150 7) Fabricated Metal Products - $341,898,401

ILLINOIS OFFICE OF TRADE AND INVESTMENT State of Illinois – West European Office Past OTI missions to West Europe • Illinois Trade Mission to Medica ’07 Trade Show in Düsseldorf, Germany (November 2007) * Six Illinois medical companies accompanied the OTI staff to Medica ’06, the world’s largest medical trade show. Companies were given booths and advanced promotion of their services. The OTI staff met with several foreign firms and attended the Invest in America‘s inaugural investment seminar on the eve of the trade show. • Illinois Fact Finding Trade Event to All Energy 2007 in Aberdeen, Scotland (May 2007) * Illinois OTI had a booth at this All Energy exhibition in the UK and had 4 catalogue exhibitors and one Illinois company who availed of the services of OTI and used the booth as a “pied-a-terre”. The intelligence gained from this event will be used to assess a possible Trade Mission to the UK focused on the Energy sector in 2008.

ILLINOIS OFFICE OF TRADE AND INVESTMENT State of Illinois – West European Office Past OTI missions to West Europe • Illinois Trade Mission to Medica ’06 Trade Show in Düsseldorf, Germany (November 2006) * Seven Illinois medical companies accompanied the OTI staff to Medica ’06, the world’s largest medical trade show. Companies were given booths and advanced promotion of their services. The OTI staff met with several foreign firms and hosted an FDI seminar about medical investment opportunities in Illinois. • Illinois Horizontal Trade Mission to Madrid and Barcelona, Spain (June 2006) * Three Illinois firms accompanied the OTI staff to Spain in a broad based trade mission, covering different sectors of industry. Companies attended seminars, factory tours, and face- to-face meetings with compatible companies. The OTI staff held FDI seminars, introducing foreign investors to the commercial opportunities that await in Illinois.

Companies were given booths and advanced promotion of their services. The OTI staff met with several foreign firms and hosted an FDI seminar about medical investment opportunities in Illinois. All companies reported meeting interested parties who they have hope for future business. • Illinois Food and Processing Trade Mission to Düsseldorf, Germany and Bologna, Italy (May 2005) * Six Illinois small to medium sized firms, in the food and processing industry, accompanied the OTI staff to Germany and Italy for seminars and face-to-face meetings with firms from Europe in the same industry. All firms that attended rated their experience as satisfying. The six companies reported obtaining 97 leads during the mission.
