  4. Introduction • In 2005 the Missouri Student Information System (MOSIS) was developed. • MOSIS is a student-level record system that contains a randomly generated state identification number for every student receiving service in the public schools. • MOSIS IDs can be assigned for grades PK-12, and colleges may submit information for adults. • We recommend you periodically update the ID system with your student’s information, as well as when new students enroll.

  5. User Access Request Access through MOSIS website: www.dese.mo.gov/MOSIS Two Levels of Access: Building Level (access to MOSIS ID component) District Level (access to the MOSIS ID and Data Collection components)

  6. Obtain Login information to access the MOSIS ID System To Update, Search, or Assign State IDs: Export a batch file from your local records system and batch upload OR Use our Excel template to create a file and batch upload OR Enter student information through Enter Individual Student. Use the State ID System to: Search for IDs for many students using Batch Search Search for an individual student’s State ID Assign State IDs for students who need them MOSIS ID Summary

  10. August Cycle Things to Remember: August includes one file: Student Enrollment & Attendance The August Cycle collects a single record for each student attending Summer School. Students are considered Resident I students of the district while attending Summer School. An exception would be Deseg-In students. Every student attending Summer School must have a MOSIS ID. The ID system is only used to manage the ID of the student. It is not used to determine if a student is enrolled in the district. Grade level must be a grade level in the “reporting school code”.
