  1. Goa: Beyond the Beaches

  2. Is it really so difficult to shut your eyes and think about a Goa beyond its beautiful milky beaches and the golden sand? Isn’t it delightful to be able to walk on the Portuguese streets with ancient houses and Konkani speaking people happily greeting each other with beer and cakes under the smiling bright sun?Goa is all about its unthinkably unusual food, tiny churches in its quaint pristine villages, and some good photography.  If you have signed up for one of the Goa tour packages, you can visit Panjim which welcomes river Mandovi as warmly as its churches on the island of Divar. Once you walk around a little in old Goa, it's easy to get addicted to its houses, especially the ones from the Portuguese era. These houses have the most beautiful colours and textures, and are very inviting as photography subjects.

  3. You can also visit the home of the wonderful old lady of Goa, Menezes Braganza Pereira, who actually receives visitors in her centuries old house and gives them a tour as well. You need to be prepared for a lot of walking but while in Panjim, one cannot walk without stopping by at numerous pit shops for cakes and pastries. The legend around the Saturday night markets is rather interesting. About a decade ago, a German had this idea and leased out land from a Goan man and started this market. When the lease ended the Goan decided to retain the market but threw out the German. Not to give up, he started another market only to be thrown out once more. The Saturday night market at Arpore is his third attempt and it's certainly done very well. Goa tour

  4. The north of Goa is the mainstream Goa while the south of Goa is the more beautiful, undiscovered side of Goa. Even though the Baga beach and the Calangute beach are way more popular, the undiscovered more surreal beaches lie only in the southern side of Goa. At least, you are rest assured of not fining any empty beer bottles lying on the sand there! The nightlife, however is the best in the northern side with teenagers and youth swooning over the trance and the EDM and going bar hopping with bottles of alcohol in their hands.  Many Goa tour packages are available over theinternet, go choose your perfect fit. Or better still, be your own guide andset off to experience one of the most pleasing places in India. What happens in Goa, stays in Goa!
