  5. The context: eLIDA CAMEL Aims • Draw together findings: CAMEL & eLISA into new design for learning project • Collaboration based on 4 visits in CAMEL • Trial LD sequences-practitioner focus • Collect DfL case studies individual, collective • Build & model community of effective practice

  6. eLISA JISC DeL 2005-06 eLearning Independent Study Award Build on results • Collaborative work - University of Greenwich, Oxford University, Greenwich Council, schools and college 14-19+ learners and practitioners - study skills LAMS & Moodle: 250+ learners c.20 teachers • Beneficial work achieved – motivation, learning • Link with Aimhigher/EiC CLC + WP projects • Trialled learning design sequences with practitioners • Built a community of pedagogic practice • Trialled PLE (personalised learning environment)

CAMEL 2005-06Collaborative Approaches to the Management of e-Learning Build on results • Collaborative work – JISC infoNet, ALT, HEA, JISC, Universities of Greenwich and Staffordshire, Leeds College of Technology, Loughborough College. • Four study visits to institutions to share practice • Beneficial work achieved – collaboration, community of practice in effective management of e-learning • Link with HEFCE leadership, governance funding • Built a community of e-learning management practice

  10. CAMEL & eLISA encouraging initial findings:* benefits of collaborative CoP for practitioners in design for learningsustainable low-cost DfL case studies based on:* trust between partners* commitment and interest* distributed leadership* collaborative ethos* sharing re-usable resources

  11. Some challenges* timescale and workloads* teachers don’t always want to share or re-create existing sequences* collaborative ethos may not fit in with institutional norms, trust building slowish

  12. Nevertheless: * considerable opportunity for DfL * exciting potential new understandings re. pedagogy * high levels of engagement by practitioners.
